Today, the heritage popular crafts festival in Egyptian universities, hosted by Aswan university, was concluded under the patronage of Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, minister of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, Aswan university president, and Dr. Karim Hassan Hammam, director of young leaders training institute in Helwan, in the presence of Dr. Loay Saad El-Din Nasrat, dean of the faculty of engineering, on behalf of Aswan university president.
Prof. Ayman Othman said that the festival was held under the slogan “My Country’s Welfare”. The festival is part of the political leadership’s interest in popular heritage and keeping the visual identity in cooperation with young leaders training institute.
The festival’s workshops were held under the supervision of the institute’s vice deans; Dr. Hossam El-Din Mustafa, Dr. Abdel Moneim Al-Jilani, Dr. Yasser Abdel Hamid, dean of the faculty of agriculture and natural resources and the chairman of the organizing committee, Dr. Muhammad Abu Al-Layl, vice dean of community service and environmental development.
Prof. Ayman Othman added that the workshops were inaugurated today at the faculty of agriculture in the Campus at Sahary. They were held from 4th to 7th February 2022 where 200 male and female students from various Egyptian universities participated in it.
Dr. Loay Saad El-Din Nasrat explained that the activities of the exhibition are the outputs of the festival and the creators from each university to express their art and to revive the folklore of each governorate, they will be the nucleus for participating in the second Popular Crafts Heritage Exhibition. Dr. Loay Saad El-Din Nasrat on behalf of Aswan university president, Dr. Karim Hammam and the arbitration committee opened heritage popular crafts’ exhibition for 20 participating Egyptian universities. The attendees inspected the paintings of heritage popular crafts and the works of Egyptian universities’ students.
For his part, Dr. Karim Hammam pointed at the significance of the institute’s role as an educational and training platform for discovering creative leader through enhancing youth by participation in student activities as important elements in refining students’ skills, forming their personality, and preparing new generation of young pioneers.
The arbitration committee included Dr. Mahmoud Hamed Saleh, head of the committee, professor of artistic works and folklore and dean of the faculty of art education, Helwan university, Dr. Wagdy Refaat Farid, member of the committee, professor of artistic works and folklore and dean of the faculty of specific education, Assiut university, and Dr. Eman Mohamed Wagdy, member of the committee, assistant professor of artistic works and folklore, and vice dean of the faculty of specific education, Aswan university.
The closing ceremony was held in the Hall of Field Marshal Tantawy, with musical and artistic shows introduced by the students of the music education department, led by Dr. Mohammed Rashid and in the presence of Dr. Loay Saad El-Din Nasrat and Dr. Karim Hammam. The two sides exchanged shields of honor and certificates of appreciation were given to the participating universities.
