In light of of the progress that Aswan University hospitals are witnessing under the auspices of Aswan university acting president Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, the department of cardiothoracic surgery at Aswan University Hospital continues its successes after being equipped with the latest medical equipment to serve Aswan people in particular and Upper Egypt’s people in general. The department includes a selected group of consultant doctors of cardiothoracic surgery. Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury, dean of the faculty of medicine and chairman of Aswan University Hospitals, said that a specialized medical team in the department of cardiothoracic surgery performed an accurate surgery for a patient who was suffering from severe mitral valve stenosis as a result of rheumatic heart fever. His Excellency added that an open heart operation was performed today for the patient where the mitral valve was replaced with an prosthetic heart valve.
On the other hand, Dr. Ashraf Maabad, executive manager of Aswan University Hospitals, said that the medical team included a selected group of surgeons headed by Dr. Ahmed Anwar Oreibi, lecturer and consultant of cardiothoracic surgery delegated from Minya University, Dr. Mustafa El Sayed Khalil, assistant lecturer of cardiothoracic surgery at Aswan University Hospital , and Dr. Mohamed Shawky Zahran.
The team of anesthesia included; Dr. Tarek Sayed Hemida, chairman of anesthesia department, Dr. Marwa Hussein Sayed, and Mr. Ashraf Mahmoud, anesthesia technician in addition to the nursing staff who included Mr. Mohamed Adel, Mr. Taha Fayez, Mr. George Emad and Ms. Nada Ahmed as well as the nursing staff of open-heart operations care who are Ms. Suad Abdel Salam, nursing supervisor, Mr. Mahmoud Abdel Moneim, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Salam and Ms. Hanan Hamed.
