Aquaculture Technology Program

The aquaculture program prepares an aquaculture specialist who concerns with establishing fish farming and in the methods of raising and hatching fish and maricultural in addition to the aquaculture of other non-traditional marine organisms such as seaweed, oyster, echinoderm, and crustacean. Moreover, fish manufacturing, handling, counseling the aquaculture farmer about the new techniques in the field of Aquaculture.  

A graduate of the Aquaculture Technology Program is able to:

  • Read and interpret survey maps.
  • Design, establish and manage aquacultures.
  • Design, establish and manage fish hatcheries.
  • Assess water quality in the field and laboratory.
  • Calculate and estimate the nutritional requirements of farmed aquatic animals.
  • Prepare diets for farmed aquatic animals and estimate the quality of fodder components in fish diets.
  • Transport and handle live fish inside and outside the farm in ways that preserve their life and vitality.
  • Handle and preserve fish after harvesting and processing.
  • Develop health prevention programs to prevent the spread of diseases in farms and hatcheries.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of fish diseases and other farmed organisms.
  • Assess technically, economically, and environmentally aquatic farms.

First: programs required by the faculty

All students in the bachelor stage study general programs (the faculty requirements) without credit hours. for more details press here

Second: the Academic Programs

Students shall study a number of basic research, human, social sciences, field training, graduation projects, field research, information technology distributed to the scientific departments as mandatory and elective courses. In the first level, the student takes 28 credit hours (mandatory courses) and 6 credit hours (elective courses). For more details press here.

Terms of getting a bachelor in fish stock sciences, aquaculture specialization

  • Having ICDL certificate.
  • Having military education course and passing it successfully.
  • Passing the computer exam (a requirement of the ministry of higher education)
  • Passing 145 credit hours including 101 credit hours (mandatory courses) and 44 credit hours (elective courses) successfully.
